One of the NCGUB’s ministers, Dr Tint Swe and group who have been touring southern India for the past two weeks to rally the supports of the people and the government of India have now returned to New Delhi. In this tour, members from the Amnesty International [AI] also came along and some successes were said to be gained from the trip. DVB’s Thet Naing reports: Thet Naing : Dr. Tint Swe who was travelling with members of the Amnesty International said that the trip was a success: ‘In this trip, we have found three points: One, meetings with the media. Second, meetings with the civil society and normal talks. We are very uplifted by the supports and reactions of the media. The reason is they have written the news about Burma every day. Their local TV stations also mention these.’

When asked if the Indian government is going to have changes in its dealing with the SPDC, Dr. Tint Swe answered as follows: ‘As the Indian government tends to be very cautious in its foreign policies, we cannot expect them to change its attitude straight away because of our activities. But by touring and talking in Indian states, we believe that there will be some repercussions on the Indian government’s policies. In the future if we could do better, we could say that there will be some prospects of policy changes on Burma by the Indian government.’
