Assam to get gas from Myanmar

by admin last modified 2008-11-12 10:57

September 4, 2007: (Live Mint.com) Silchar: Gas would flow to India from Myanmar for supply in Cachar district of Assam which would benefit gas-based industries here, Union Minister of state for Heavy Industries Santosh Mohan Dev said.

The gas would be transported to Cachar through neighbouring Mizoram

Primary talks between the two countries for the supply of gas had already been held, Deb told PTI on 4 September.

The gas would be transported to Cachar through neighbouring Mizoram whose chief minister Zoramthanga had conveyed the state’s no objection to the Centre, he said.

With this gas based projects could be established in Cachar and also supply of piped domestic cooking gas would be possible, the minister who represents the area in Parliament added.
