Foreign Ministers of BIMSTEC countries to meet today

August 29, 2008: New Delhi, A meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) will be held here today.

The meeting will prepare the ground work for the summit of BIMSTEC counties, to be held in New Delhi in November.

According to sources, the meeting will dwell on terrorism, energy, food crisis, poverty alleviation and change in water and air.

It will also discuss on the easy visa access, development of separate centers for climate and energy and establishment of stable parliament.

BIMSTEC is an international organisation, involving a group of countries in South Asia and South East Asia, which includes the countries including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri-Lanka, Thailand and Myanmar.
