Essar eyes Burmese wildcats for Q4
May 5, 2008: (Energy Current) BURMA: Essar Exploration and Production Ltd. plans to start drilling in Myanmar this October after the passing of the seasonal monsoon.
The Indian operator intends to drill up to two exploration wells in offshore Block A2. Essar is understood to be exploring a rig share deal with the operators of neighbouring blocks, Twinza Oil, PTTEP and Daewoo International.
Block A2 is located in 40 to 50 metres (131 ft to 164 ft) off Myanmar's Rakhine coast. The offshore block is covered with 202 kilometres (126 miles) of 2-D seismic and 681 square kilometres (293 sq miles) of newly acquired 3-D seismic.
