Confederation of Indian Industry
(CII) in association with Embassy of India, Yangon with support of Ministry of
Commerce & Industry, Government of India, Ministry of Commerce, Government
of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Republic of the Union of Myanmar
Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RUMFCCI) is organizing
Enterprise India, the exclusive exhibition of Indian products and services in
Tatmadaw hall Yangon, Myanmar from 10-13 November 2011.
The Enterprise
India –Show will bring
together leading Indian brands and small and medium size entrepreneurs on one
platform, to build business linkages with the industry in Myanmar.
The Exhibition will be spread
over an area of 3500 sqm and will have the participation of over 60 companies
from varied sectors. The major focus of the exhibition will be on Automobiles
(Commercial & Passenger), Agriculture Machinery, Telecommunication
Infrastructure, Electrification, Renewable Energy, Textiles & Garments,
Consumer Durables with presence of major companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra
& Mahindra, Shyam Telecom, Escorts, NHPC, Fedders Lloyd, Exim Bank, Ion
Exchange, HMT, and International Tractors to name a few. A full list of

The products on display include
automobiles of the premier Indian vehicle manufacturers such as Tata Motors (Vista, Ace, Safari etc, Tata Buses & Trucks),
Tractors and agricultural implements from Escorts, John Deere, ITL(Sonalika)
and New Holland Ltd, construction equipment manufactured by Luminous Power,
Shyam Steel,Feeder Llyod, Everest Industries etc. Other companies which
are participating in the show are HMT (I) and VNL( telecom sector). EXIM
bank(financial services, Ion Exchange (water purification)The National Hydro
Power Corporation of India, the leading Indian Hydropower generation company,
will display a working model during the trade fair. In addition, numerous
consumer goods like kitchen utensils from TTK, ANS Corp etc, garments, sarees,
cosmetics, stationery etc. will be attractively displayed.
Various Myanmar
dignitaries are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony on 10 November
2011. More than 100 Indian businessmen will be present during the inauguration.
Coinciding with the exhibition,
there will also be a high profile industry delegation from India led by Mr
Sanjay C Kirloskar, Chairman & Managing Director, Kirloskar Brothers Ltd.
The delegation will participate, along with leading Myanmar
business persons in a conference on ‘Opportunities for Strengthening Myanmar-India
Trade and Economic Cooperation” that is being organized on 9th November 2011 in
collaboration with Republic
of Union of Myanmar
Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RUMFCCI).
The delegation comprises of
delegates representing leading companies of India
including Kirloskar Brothers Limited, Apollo International Limited,
E-Convergence Technologies Ltd., Escorts Limited, Shahnaz Herbals,, Shyam Steel
Industries Ltd., Titagarh Wagons Ltd. TVS Ltd. etc. which will be interested in
building business linkages with Myanmar.
Trade between India and Myanmar has grown substantially in
recent years and is pegged at US$ 1.5 bn for the year 2010-11. The major items
traded between India and Myanmar are pulses & beans, timber, iron &
steel products, light machinery, pharmaceuticals etc, Recently, many Indian
leading companies like Essar Projects India Pvt Ltd., Punj Llyod, Larsen &
Toubro, Nipha Exports Pvt Ltd. have been awarded projects in various sectors in
Myanmar.
Myanmar
is a beneficiary of the Duty Preferential Tarriff Scheme for LDCs announced by India last
year. Myanmar
will also benefit from the India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement signed in 2009. India and Myanmar have earlier signed a
Bilateral Investment Promotion Agreement (BIPA) and Double Taxation Avoidance
Treaty for promoting trade and investment between the two countries
During the recent 4th Joint Trade
Committee Meeting(JTC) India
and Myanmar
agreed doubling their bilateral trade by 2015, in addition to agreeing setting
up of a Joint Trade and Investment Forum, establishing border haats at the
border, holding meetings on border trade regularly etc.
