The Women's League of Chinland celebrated its second anniversary, since its inception on December 4, 2004, in a simple function in its Aizawl Mizoram office today.
As an umbrella organization, within two years the WLC has succeeded in collaborating and ushered in unity among Chin women. Its members have organised and attended about 30 training programmes in various places, according to a WLC official.

"Women comprise half the population. Deprivation of women's rights is denial of the overall development of society and social justice," said Cheery Zahau, Coordinator of WLC.
WLC has begun playing an active role in the movement for the restoration of democracy in Burma. It is a signatory to the Victoria Agreement and member, as civil society, of the Chin National Council and a member organization of the Ethnic Nationalities Council.
WLC advocates the recognition of Chin women's right and social uplift of the weaker gender amongst chin communities in Europe and other parts of India. It is into intensive investigation of the Burmese regime's sexual abuses against Chin women. The reports are to be 'hopefully published' in the near future.
Keihawla of Zo Re-unification Organization, while appreciating WLC, said, "WLC deserves recognition for its activities and duties."
The second anniversary of WLC was attended by various dignitaries from Chin National Council, Zo Re-unification Organization, Chin Human Rights Organization, Chin National League for Democracy, Chin National Front and Human Rights and Law Network. WLC is an umbrella organization of nine Chin regional women's organizations.
