A top Myanmar military junta leader, General Thura Shwe Man, today held wide-ranging talks with Armed forces top brass seeking stepped up military assistance and discussing coordinated military operations on the Indo-Mynmar border.

New Delhi: A top Myanmar military junta leader, General Thura Shwe Man, today held wide-ranging talks with Armed forces top brass seeking stepped up military assistance and discussing coordinated military operations on the Indo-Mynmar border.

Shwe Man, Chief of the Myanmar Army General Staff, country's third most powerful figure, held talks with the three services' chief S P Tyagi, J J Singh and Sureesh Mehta.

He also met the Defence Secretary Shekar Dutt and called on Defence Minister AK Antony.

Defence Ministry did not comment on the schedule or contents of the Myanmar junta leader's meetings.

However, according to sources, Myanmar General submitted a list of military hardware it wanted.

In a meeting in the Directorate General of Military operations, the two sides also held discussions on the ongoing coordinated military operations being undertaken on the Indo-Myanmar borders to flush out ULFA, and Manipur terrorist group hideouts.

The Myanmar strongman's visit here follows visits to Yangon by Defence Secretary Shekhar Dutt, Air Chief S P Tyagi and the naval chief.

India has supplied to Myanmar army medium artillery guns, naval aircraft and small naval speedboats.

Myanmar armed forces still have a wider armed shopping list.
