Indo-Myanmar directors of survey level talk from today

Imphal: A high level official Indian delegation proceeded to Moreh from Imphal Thursday to attend at the two days directors’ level meeting between survey departments of India and Myanmar due to begin from tomorrow. The meeting is to be held at the Moreh Trade Centre.
The Indian delegation comprises of director, Union ministry of external affairs, PGDC, Survey of India, Shillong, representatives from Union ministry of external affairs, home affairs and defense, director, Boundary Survey of India, New Delhi and other officials of India.
The delegation arrived at Imphal yesterday and left for Moreh today, an official source said.
Directors of survey from Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, GDC Survey of India, Shillong, CK Pant, Superintending Surveyor and PB Das, officer surveyor, Survey of India were among the Indian delegation which left Imphal for Moreh this morning.
The meeting will review the report on work plan on the joint survey, repairing, restoration, reconstruction and maintenance of boundary pillars which has been continuing in the international border between the two countries, the source said.
This year’s meeting was the follow up of the meetings between the heads of the survey departments of Myanmar and India which was held on September 24 and 25, 2006.
Last year both countries had accepted for construction of pucca fencing along the stretch of border lying between the border pillar 79 and 81 which is to be taken up by the government of India.
The two countries agreed to works for installation of boundaries pillars and updated information regarding the conditions of the pillars.
Survey of the border pillars no. 185 and 186 located at the Arunachal Pradesh-Myanmar sector, BP no. 73,101, 114(1), 114(2), 114(3), 115(1), 115(2), 116 and 117 in the Manipur-Myanmar sector and 131,133(1), 113(2), 133(3), 145, 146, 147, 148, 150, 151 and 152 in the Nagaland- Myanmar sector are continuing since last year.
The directors’ level meeting is likely to discuss with regard to the proposal of Indian side for finalization of unsettled 9 boundary pillars nos. 66, 76, 78, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, and 94. the Myanmar authority is yet to give their comments even as the Indian side had proposed for settlement during the sixth meeting of heads of survey department level meeting last year.
