Aizawl: Indo-Myanmar border trade
from Mizoram's Zokhawthar Trade Centre would soon start as the land customs
building and other necessary construction are expected to be completed by the
end of the year, Mizoram Trade and Commerce Minister Aichhinga said.
Addressing a press conference here today, Aichhinga said that almost all the
required constructions had been completed and the border trade would take off
after land customs building was constructed.
He also said that Mizoram-Bangladesh border trade point at Kawrpuichhuah was being developed with the fund received from the Ministry of Commerce.
He, however, said that the Bangladesh government was not eager to open the trade centre on their side.
“We have urged the Centre to take up the matter with the Bangladesh government to expedite the construction of land custom buildings and other necessary infrastructure works on their side,'' he said.
