Older people are fleeing to Mizoram, India to escape army training for the public to be held from September 20.
Two persons from southern Chin state Matupi, Myanmar; who did not want to train in the army training school arrived in Mizoram yesterday. The authorities will also forcibly train people who are between 45 to 50 years of age.
A report said that the local people are fleeing to India and Pha Kan, Kachin state to escape training.
A local person told Khonumthung News: “We are old and there is no benefit in attending such training. The army just wants to restrain people.”
The other burden for the local people are providing food and lodging for the trainees and faculty.
It is learnt that the authorities already trained those between 35-45 years old from eleven villages in August. After the training is completed they will select those between 45to 50 years of age for training.
Therefore, some are fleeing to neighbouring countries and other states to escape training. They do not care and are not afraid of the action that will be taken by the authorities.
