Manipur University to host seminar on Burma
Manipur University in India's northeastern state of Manipur, bordering Burma, is all set to host the first Asian seminar on 'Land and People of Myanmar' at its Canchipur varsity complex under the aegis of the Centre for Myanmar Studies from December 6 to 7, 2006.

Manipur University in India's northeastern state of Manipur, bordering Burma, is all set to host the first Asian seminar on 'Land and People of Myanmar' at its Canchipur varsity complex under the aegis of the Centre for Myanmar Studies from December 6 to 7, 2006.
Dr N Jiten, research associate of the Centre told Mizzima that the main objective of organizing the seminar is to create awareness and study the socio-political situation of Burma as an academic study of the Indian sub-continent.
The Centre for Myanmar Studies, which has been conducting Burmese language courses since last year, is presently engaging in a month long 'Talk programme on Myanmar' since July 30.
Several high profile academicians from India as well as abroad including Prof Sreemati Chakrabarti of Delhi University, Prof K Raja Reddy of South East Asia and Pacific Studies, Venkateswara University and Dr Udai Bhanu Singh of Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis will be participating in the two day seminar.
The Centre, which is funded by India's University Grant Commission, will also arrange a delegate’s trip to Burma's Tamu town, opposite Moreh in Manipur on the concluding day of the seminar.
