India's foreign office has summoned its envoys from the 10 Asean countries for a weekend policy 'ideating' and 'strategizing' meeting in New Delhi in the first week of September. The envoys along with top policy officials will gather in South Block on September 2 and 3 for 'a think-and-gab' meeting to shape a coherent approach and coordinate strategy for India's key foreign policy areas called ?Look East?, said sources from the Ministry of External Affairs. The weekend meeting will be chaired by foreign secretary Shyam Saran and see ambassador's from Southeast Asian countries discussing ideas and strategies on whether India should adopt Asia Pacific region to fulfill its policy, sources said. Burma and its importance to India's energy security and as a gateway to Asean, would also be discussed in the meeting, sources added. India's Look-East? policy has been the focus of successive governments since Narasimha Rao sought economic inspiration from the East rather than the West.
