Moreh to have composite check post

A composite check post with all facilities needed on the border under one roof will come up in Moreh,Manipur, the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jairam Ramesh said in New Delhi.
The check post will provide a host of facilities relating to immigration, policing, including a women's wing of the police, forest, postal and telecommunication facilities, NDPS related department, banking, food testing laboratory, animal/plant quarantine, quality certification inspection; agencies trade facilitation counter and a truck parking facility.
The Union minister made the announcement after holding a discussion with the Manipur Governor Dr. S. S. Sidhu on the ways and means to improve Indo-Myanmar border trade.
"Its also been agreed in principle to set up an Inland Container Depot (ICD) from Guwahati to Moreh in addition to the International Trade Centre for Border Trade at Imphal," Jairam Ramesh said.
During the meeting, it was actively considered that cotton fabrics including lungis, cotton yarns, textiles and dress materials, readymade garments, leather footwear, imitation jeweler be included in the 22-item list of tradable commodities with Burma, the minister said.
