Insurgency in India's northeastern states bordering Burma, security issues, drug trafficking and smuggling are likely to figure during the 12th Home Secretary level talks between India and Burma beginning on September 13 in New Delhi.
Border management and fencing are the other issues that are likely to come up during the four-day talks, sources in the Union Home Ministry said.
While Union Home Secretary V K Duggal would lead the Indian team, Burma's Deputy Minister Brig Gen Phone Swe will head the Burmese delegation, sources added.
The status of various infrastructure projects in Burma, particularly road and power sectors would also come up for review in the meeting.
India and Burma had signed an agreement for maintenance of peace and tranquility in the border areas in 1994, under which Home Secretaries of both countries are to meet once a year.
The last such meeting was held at Rangoon, former capital of Burma, in October 2005.
