Theology students from Chin state graduate from Mizoram

Twenty seven students of theology from Chin state graduated in different disciplines from the prestigious Tabernacle Baptist Bible College, Aizawl, Mizoram in India. The students were conferred degrees in a graduation ceremony in Vanapa Hall on February 11.

Twenty seven students of theology from Chin state graduated in different disciplines from the prestigious Tabernacle Baptist Bible College, Aizawl, Mizoram in India. The students were conferred degrees in a graduation ceremony in Vanapa Hall on February 11.

The President of the college, Rev. A.D. Mathew, who is also the donor of the theological college, in his welcome address and felicitation of distinguished invitees said that the college has conferred the degrees to the first batch of graduate students in Bangalore. It is a privilege for the institution to confer such degrees to students in Aizawl.

Dr. T. J. Tilley, International Field Director of HELP Ministry, which funds the theological college, conferred the degrees. Dr. Tilley conferred the Bachelor of Theology degree to eight students including two girl students, Certificate of Theology to nine students including one girl student and the Missionary Training Certificate to 10 students. Among them 22 students are from Chin state, Burma.

The chief guest at the graduation ceremony, the honourable Minister in the Mizoram Government, Mr. B. Lalthlengliana, addressing the congregation said, "I encourage the students to utilize their knowledge not only in worldly affairs but for the extension of the Gospel."

The Tabernacle Baptist Bible College has 35 final year students in various disciplines. Twenty-seven students were conferred degrees while five students did not qualify and two students were reportedly expelled from the college.

Tabernacle Baptist Bible College established in the year 2000 in Aizawl is managed and run by the Carson Baptist Church. It has run successfully for six consecutive years and degrees have been conferred to two batches. The Tabernacle Baptist Bible College has two other branches in Bangalore, Karnataka state, India.
